Summer Break

Hey Everyone!

Yep, I back with A NEW BLOG! My summer went really well. I went to the USPC Dressage Championships and Festival. I got 8th place in my freestyle, which I was pretty proud of. Duke has been great! We have been currently working on Second Level moves and perfecting First Level. I am glad to be in school visiting with my friends. I was so busy I didn't get to see them.

Behind the Model

Today's model is Afleet Alex. Alex was born to a mother that could not provide him with milk, so they bottle fed him. This horse had a hard start but has had 8 wins and has won $2,765,800. Alex's owner had heard of a cancer victim named Alexandra Scott who raised money for caner research by selling lemonade. He gave a portion of Alex's winnings to Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Check out these links to find out more about Afleet Alex. Get the full story on one of the links or on his profile at BreyerHorses.com.

I AM BACK!

Hey Everyone,

I know that it has been a long time since I last wrote, but that makes it all the more worth while when I do write, I hope. Things have been good with me and Duke. We've been getting ready for the show year. Duke has been babysitting Bella. I think that he likes it.

Today is our first Pony Club lesson. This one is Dressage and then they will alternate to jumping every other lesson. I can't wait to ride with friends and get out of our small indoor arena.

Hope that everyone is having a good year so far. Did anyone make any New Year's resolutions? Well here is our model of the day!

Behind the Model

Today's model is Flim Flam! Flim Flam was an extraordinary horse that competed in Dressage. He competed in 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy, the 2000 Sydney, Australia Olympics (team bronze) and the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain (team silver). Flim Flam had many great accomplishments.

Regional Championships

It's been a busy summer with lots of shows. We've had a great time with our friends and horses and now we're back in school. We have one more big show though, and I'm really looking forward to it.

The regional dressage championships are in Paxton, OH. I'll be competing with Duke at Training Level.

I'll post pics.

Breyer Fest and Goffert 369

Hey Everyone,
Two straight blogs in a row! For the occasion everyone should check out the Breyer website, also because Breyer Fest is coming up later in the week. We are going with my aunt and are going to have some fun.

For those who have no idea what Breyer Fest is, you are missing out. Breyer Fest is an enormous yearly gathering in Lexington KY where you can enter you Breyer models in classes and try to win, kind of like a real horse show. You tack up you models and you may set up a scene to go with them. We're going as spectators this year. You can enter in dressage, show jumping, western pleasure, or one of the other classes. It is really cool and if I were to tell you everything about it this would go on for ever.

I've also decided to add a fact of the day and a behind the model section in my blog.

FACT OF THE DAY:

Did you know each zebra has its own personal striping pattern? This makes identification of individuals easy for researchers!

BEHIND THE MODEL: Roy Rogers' Trigger

Trigger was often billed as "the smartest horse in the movies" during his heyday with singing cowboy Roy Rogers. Though Rogers was the real star of the show, Trigger became a popular public figure right along with him. The pair starred in dozens of westerns in the 1930s and 1940s; Trigger even shared the title in two, My Pal Trigger (1946) and Trigger, Jr. (1950). (Rogers's wife and co-star Dale Evans had her own favorite horse, Buttermilk.) After his death in 1965, Trigger was mounted and placed in the Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum in California.

Ribbons!

Well yesterday we just got back from a horseshow at Grand Haven Stables in Jefferson, Ohio. I took Duke and of course it was a Dressage show.

On Saturday and Sunday I showed in Training Level test 4 and First Level test 4. I got first, fifth, and fourth. I also got a little glass box for a First Place Prize. I gave it to Duke for his sugar cubes (he he he).

We stayed in a tent by the vendors (tack, cloths, and photos). Ariel Intorcio also slept over last night. Her sister Alex competed in the show too on her horse Torito, they only competed Saturday. I had a really great time with my mom, Duke, and Solitaire. Andy and my dad didn't make it this time because they had to take care of the horses at home. Well, happy trails to the pot of gold!

Horse Games Online

Hey Everyone,
Tetrathlon went well and my team (Dylan Poleondakis, Andy Wyatt, and Viktoria Sargeant) got 2nd in horse management and 2nd overall. I helped with the horse management and we only got one point off. That was very good considering it was really muddy.

There are a few websites I want you to check out. They are both horse games online. They're really fun and I've joined both.

First Level Dressage

Hey Everyone,
I just got back from a horseshow at Lake Erie College. I did good and showed first level! I am so glad! Duke was great. He was relieved when he got home.

I had a great time camping out at the show. We have a new tent that is really big. This coming weekend is Tetrathlon and I'm stable managing. That's a lot of work. I have been non-stop preparing. Wish me luck!

Dressage News

Hey Everyone! Once again I'm sorry I haven't been writing. Life's very busy on the farm. Dressage rally is coming up and I'm doing a freestyle. For the people that don't know what that is: freestyle is a test that you make up with movements of your level with music to correspond with the gait. I am doing my freestyle to music from Zorro. It's really cool. A guy named Forrest came and put it together smoothly and he did the best job. He's a DJ so he has all the programs to edit with.

Today we went to the tack shop and I got new boots. This would be my first unused pair. I usually get them from a friend or just in the used section. We also got some tack cleaning stuff. This morning we took Duke and Red to another barn to ride so we could practice with our music for the rally. We're gettinhg excited.

Let me tell you what happened at Prix de Ville a couple weeks ago. My team got 6th overall and I made my qualifying scores. Duke was fantastic. Bella is doing great. I'll write more about her soon.

Dressage Prix de Ville - coming up

Hey Everyone! Sorry I haven't been writing so much! My schedule has been tight. Right now I'm on spring break and it has gone by so fast. Andy and I are training for rally and I have a big dressage show coming up at Lake Erie College, it's a USDF show. And Bella our new foal! So even with no school the days are zipping by.

On school days I get up at 6:00am, get on the bus at 7:00am, get picked up at 2:20pm, ride Not (the horse I am borrowing) till about 5:00pm, ride Duke, eat diner, watch some T.V., and go to bed. Homework is in there somewhere. As you can see my schedule is really packed. The photo is taken with me riding Duke. My life from the back of a horse! Well got to go, Bye

Life on the Farm

Hey everyone! This is Ariel Wyatt from Whispering Willows Farm and I am 14 years old. I ride mainly Dressage and am starting to get good at first level.

I am in pony club and have lots of friends there. I am a C-1 and going for my C-2. I have to jump 3 feet. I am using a horse named Not Mine (Not for short) for the rating because my horse doesn't jump very well.

My horse's name is D'artagnon and we just call him Duke. Duke is a TB chestnut. He as done polo and been on the track. He is great though.

I also have a pony named Merry Legs. We call him Smokey. He is a white devil. Smokey is always in trouble. He is kind-of retired now. My brother, Andy, also rides. He has two horses. My mom has a horse that just had a baby so that was cool. I will get into that next entry. Barn work all day so I have to do my homework now! Bye
Ariel

Insider Tip
When the ground gets hard and dry this summer, try packing your horse's hoofs with hoof packing 2 - 3 times per week. The hoof packing will make their hoofs more pliable and will help draw out any soreness.
