Normally I am a person who likes more natural materials on my horse. However, I make a big exception for the ThinLine girth.

It's made from ThinLine's special material which I can only describe as being "neoprene like". The girth is reasonably wide, smooth and very soft. I had the opportunity to try it on a horse that we were bringing back into condition.

Several things impressed me. For starters there are elastic inserts centered on the outside of the girth. This coupled with the special ThinLine material make a nice combination which allows it to fit like a glove. Second, it left absolutely no rub marks nor chapped skin. Lastly, it is amazingly durable. This surprised me. When I first picked up the girth, I thought it was interesting but wondered if with its apparent lack of form; will it last? It did. After three months of every day use it looks the same as the day it arrived.

Pros
Soft Material.
Good for "girthy" horses.

Cons
Needs keepers for billets.

Insider Tip
When the ground gets hard and dry this summer, try packing your horse's hoofs with hoof packing 2 - 3 times per week. The hoof packing will make their hoofs more pliable and will help draw out any soreness.
