Beezie is originally from Milwaukee, WI and made her Grand Prix debut in 1985. In 1989, she was named the United States Olympic Committee's (USOC) Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year. This honor was due to her leading the USET to back-to-back Nations' Cup wins at the Washington International Horse Show and at the National Horse Show, and by winning the American Gold Cup, the Grand Prix of Rochester, the Grand Prix de Penn National at Harrisburg and the Grandprix of New York at the National Horse Show in one year.
Since this remarkable beginning, Beezie has continued to bring world class horses to the winners circle in International Grand Prix events. Beezie with partner John Madden [John Madden Sales] also sponsor the Benefit Syracuse Invitational each year which includes the Animal Planet Cup.
The Mark of a Champion
Two fundamental accomplishments say it all about Beezie Madden's international success: She was the first woman and the first American rider to ever reach the Top Three in the Show Jumping World Ranking List (achieved in 2004), and she was the first woman to pass the million dollar mark in show jumping earnings.
In the past few years, Beezie has been a critical member of the U.S. jumping squad. Riding in six out of the eight competitions, she anchored the team for the 2005 Samsung Super League, which the U.S. decisively won. Also in 2005 she won the $1,000,000 CN International at Spruce Meadows on Judgement and won the $200,000 American Invitational in Tampa, FL on Authentic. With her contribution of double clear rounds in the 2004 Athens Olympics, she helped the U.S. win the Team Gold medal. Beezie and Authentic led the show jumpers at the 2006 World Equestrian Games until the last rail in the Final Four jump off, resulting in an Individual Silver medal, following up on a Team Silver medal for the squad.
Beezie is the first two-time winner of the prestigious USET Foundation Whitney Stone Cup, awarded for a distinguished record in international competition while also serving as an ambassador for equestrian sports.
"Without support from the USET Foundation, it would be extremely difficult for us to compete abroad, which is critical for us to stay at the top of our game. Contributors to the Foundation are an integral part of the triumphs of the United States' equestrian teams."
